Meng Chih Chiang’s project won Red Dot Awards in Berlin

“A Stranger to Words” an interactive data visualization created by Taiwanese designer, Meng Chih Chiang has not only selected to The IEEE VIS 2015 Arts Program but also won 2 titles of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design Winner and Junior Award last week in Berlin.

Acclaimed as “Design Oscar”, the Red Dot Award held an award ceremony at the Red Dot Gala in the Konzerthaus Berlin on November 6. And Red Dot: Junior Award set for young talents, including students and young designers who have graduated within the last three years, is a touchstone for primely excellent in the design industry.

Ms. Chiang’s project “A Stranger to Words” has chosen chosen from a total of 7.451 submissions and 53 countries and given awards: Red Dot Award: Communication Design Winner and Red Dot: Junior Award.

Meng Chih Chiang received Government Study Abroad Grants from Taiwan in 2011 and graduated from School of Visual Arts in New York with MFA degree in Computer Arts in 2013. “A Stranger to Words” is an interactive internet art of data visualization which Ms. Chiang had designed for a year. It is created and generated a huge personal database originally by using interactive programming Javascript. It makes a novel experience of digital visualization on internet to deconstruct.the relationship and possibility of text data.

“A Stranger to Words” is also honored by Adobe Design Achievement Awards, Google Chrome Experiments Site in United State and The Lumen Prize in England which strong presents the design ability from Taiwan. All award-winning projects of the Red Dot will showcase in an exhibition entitled “Best Communication Design – Red Dot Winners Selection 2015” at the Museum für Kommunikation Berlin from 8 November 2015 to 10 January 2016.
